Very happy with this month’s “Mixed Metals” theme over on Vintaj.com. I was able to combine artisan copper, natural brass and arte metal in both my necklace and earrings for their Idea Gallery. How awesome are all of those metals? I love working with/mixing all three. I had fun making these:

Hello Friends, happy new year! I was browsing through my never ending wish list over at ModCloth (waiting for sales & steals) and happened to notice the more recent saves are in the green family. It may seem like I have not been very busy the past couple months but that is not the case. Truth is I have been insanely busy with many great art projects on top off all my everyday work & family tasks. I will be posting some past projects this week, art, crafts, jewelry, craft shows and photography! I am looking forward to 2012 but am gonna take a couple weeks off from freelance to relax. That is as soon as I get two commissioned paintings done this week! Hope you enjoy these few sneak peeks of some recent ladynoble projects.

Challenge of Color: Autumn Stacked Palette

I am very pleased to be a part of such an awesome blog hop “Paint the World with Your Palette: 2nd Annual Challenge of Color Blog Hop!” The lovely miss Erin from Treasures Found really knows how to host a great hop. Erin even took on the challenge herself but decided she needed to do ALL TWELVE palettes, putting the rest of us slackers (me) in their place. Now for those of you who know me you know that I very interested in creating simple designs where the metal of the jewelry findings shows through. So usually not a lot of beads. You might wonder why I signed up for this hop if I don’t use a lot of beads? Well the reason was to challenge myself and create something based off one of the gorgeous color palettes created by Design Seeds. I first found Design Seeds through one of my design blogs a few months ago and have been an avid follower ever since! With that being said I did chose the color grey – so neutral and perfect for me right?! Erin decided to throw me for a loop and send me a palette that was grey and ORANGE! haha, I think I managed to make it work though. My Autumn Stacked necklace below the Autumn Stacked Design Seeds Palette…

Of course I used Vintaj arte metal for most of my grey coloring. I wanted a distressed look to bring out the different colors of grey so I hammered and relief the metal. I added a few light grey beads and multiple shades of orange czech glass along with one bright orange lampwork bead. (to learn how to distress arte metal check out this helpful video)

I also had the perfect fiber to go with my palette and I love the added texture that this fiber brings to the piece. Plus it feels nice around the neck too! For a creative connector/closure I simple used an arte metal filigree.

Flea Market Finds Necklace (archive jewelry)

Last month’s theme over on teh Vintaj site was Flea Market Finds. I was more than excited to be able to group some fun eclectic beads together for this Little Treasures necklace above. This necklace includes: Earthernwood Studio ceramic, vintage czech glass flowers, a vintage key found in my parents basement, Greengirl birdie, brass ribbon connector, plastic mauve flower connector, kyle perry ceramic bead, silk and of course perfectly colored Vintaj® brass, arte metal and artisan copper! HMC3 – Holiday 2011 Event

Things are place for the Handmade City 2011 Holiday Event. I am super pleased with the vendor list this year and very excited to promoting these amazing artists in the next coming weeks. This time of year can get kind of crazy with sports, school, holiday craft show planning, birthdays and the sun setting earlier each night! I have to remind myself to slow down and admire my favorite season. What a better way to do that then take the kids outside and snap some photos. I absolutely love sunny fall afternoons and I think I was able to capture that in these photos of my kids I took last year. It is time for another photo trip to the country while the trees are still gorgeous fire-bursts of yellow, orange and red. Hope you are feeling inspired today!

Here are two journal necklaces I made for Vintaj to sell as kits at this year’s Bead&Button show. I love wearing these layered pendants on long chain and when people ask to flip through them to find hidden messages. (props to Betsy and Jess for inspiration on these two pieces. We had a creative session and I fed off their creative energy the day these were made)

I think most people love getting the inside scoop on the blogger behind a blog. They want the details on one’s everyday life, the struggles, their interests, habits, studio spaces etc. I know I always love learning fun new things about my favorite bloggers! I am excited to take the next step with this thing I call my site and will be posting more fun ladynoble personals. (sounds risque doesn’t it)

Here is a picture with some fun ladynoble details!

1. Button to Button. I still love and wear my band buttons! They are the perfect accessory to any sweater/hoodie/jean jacket. The two pictured happen to be old favs, Botch & Pedro the Lion. I felt the White Stripes video listed below was appropiate.
2. My house was built in 1836. That isn’t a brick wall, it’s brick insulation!
3. Mark Kozelek anyone? Red House Painters? Sun Kil Moon? Yes please, and um yeah I will frame that tour poster.
4. “Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.”
5. My newest refurbished piece. Bright mustard of course. you will be able to see more of this when I do the before & after post.
6. Mondo Drag, supporting local pals never gets old. Plus the art on the shirt is cool.

To be honest, I am always a little weirded out about talking too much about myself on here and posting photos of me at the risk of people thinking I am self absorbed. It is one thing to post and talk about my art because I started this blog to get my art out there, not pictures of me. But even typing that sounds ridiculous. My art is a direct expression of ME. I have slowly opened up more of myself here and I have noticed that when I do post a more personal entry I have more interaction with my readers. I really do not care what people think of me in any other aspect of my life. There are always gonna be haters so why bother trying to win them over? If people read this blog and think I am a narcissistic, self-absorbed, toot-my-own-horn, ladynoble lover… then lettem thinkit. Life is good and I am gonna keep sharing.
